A cheat code into the mind of Aquarius suns...

The conversations surrounding Aquarius are always about their emotions and this is due to the fact Aquarius are very elusive individuals. Their emotions aren’t easily shown.

To have them, is to finally see them. But you cannot see that in which is not in your possession yet and to possess an Aquarius is a near impossible task. Because for them to let you possess them, they have let you in.

Not due to them purposely making it impossible, but through people making it harder than they need to, due to assigning the way they think and process things onto how they think an Aquarius should too. Which just creates a lot of misunderstandings and a lack of true intimacy and connection.

Before we really get into the topic of Aquarius and their emotions, let’s actually start somewhere else because they have a lot of layers that many people ignore. Aquarius are way more than just this basic analysis and stereotype. They are very interesting, charismatic, funny and talented individuals, with celebrities like Meg the Stallion, Caresha (Yung Miami), The Weeknd, Shakira, Cristiano Ronaldo, Oprah, Michael Jordan, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Jennifer Aniston and more.

One thing you’ll notice about the celebrities listed is they’re very loved. Boy/girl next door type of vibes loved. Aquarius are often community based people, thriving in groups or platonic based relationships in which deep emotional intimacy is not really required from them. They are usually accidentally popular due to being really friendly, or the respected loners, or just people who’s energy is often really appreciated by others. 

They have a warmth which is very welcoming and they can easily make people feel comfortable in their presence because they are ready to accept everyone. Similar to Sagittarius, they have a habit of rooting for the underdog or seeing something special in things that others have likely shunned, set aside, overlooked or rejected. Making them the trend setters of the zodiac, because they can find love in a hopeless place, find gold in dirt and can see potential in uncharted territory. It makes them extremely innovative, creative, and unique individuals who can be inspiring to many people.

On the flip side, this is where usually people can find Aquarius weird. Aquarius are not “weird” individuals, they are just not followers and often are unapologetically themselves regardless of what others may say about them. Uranus influence shows up heavily by allowing them to be groundbreaking and unorthodox in how they do things. They are aware of the backlash that can come with people not seeing their vision, not understanding them but Aquarius are very intelligent and their Air and humanitarian quality allows them to be logical in their view of people. They do not place emotional expectations on people to accept them, they can easily dismiss the fact people won’t as from a young age, they likely felt very different, or misunderstood. Even when popular, and surrounded by many, Aquarius can feel unseen, unheard, different and not really understood. Which can make them feel under appreciated or can feel people never give them the credit they deserve, but do not internalise this or really expect any different as they do not blame anyone but themselves. (We will get back to Aquarius and self-blame soon!)

Aquarius misconception comes from them being very out of the box thinkers, and also not ascribing to herd mentality, they usually do what they want, regardless of what others say or feel. Aquarius really do not like being told what to do and when they feel that they are living through the direction or instruction of someone else, they can rebel to prove that they are in charge of their own choices, actions, interests and destiny. They really respect that others should be able to have that same freedom too, so this makes them very accepting and understanding people as they are constantly encouraging others to be themselves and do what they want, also constantly giving people a safe space to be themselves free of judgement.

In childhood or at some point in Aquarius’s life, they stopped feeling accepted. For some it was their parents, for some it was in friendships, for some it was in love, or school, or career, or even religion. At some point, they felt a little out of place and a little too weird or different. This caused them to shut themselves off in some way, they did not turn this into anger or hatred towards the places that made them feel this way, but instead they learned the ability to suppress their emotions towards rejection and feelings of being a little invisible even in a room filled with people. They started to appreciate their own acceptance and understand that only they know and see who they are, they ensured they really did not go looking for external validation because they would never receive it and it is a lot easier to keep their energy to themselves to never face that internal fear of rejection that they all have.

Aquarius confidence is high. They know what they are, they know who they are and they accept themselves wholeheartedly. However many of them have ran from opening up because that would mean possibly having to open up that box that they tucked away for many years. That other people will not accept them whole heartedly. The logical box is there and opened. They know this will happen. The emotional box however is what is pushed away, the feelings accompanied with not being accepted wholeheartedly. Convincing themselves they do not care, or just not feeling it because they UNDERSTAND. Understanding is an Aquarian’s biggest blessing and curse.

Understanding is how Aquarius gets through life. “It is what it is.” Their number one phrase. They get it. What’s the use in being upset if it makes sense? What’s the point in crying and going crazy if it adds up? Understanding has been Aquarians way of getting over many things and moving on from things because they cannot battle that which makes logical sense and a lot of things make sense when you are as analytical and intelligent as an Aquarius. They also do not like the way negative emotions make them feel. Contrary to what many people think, they care, A LOT and feel things very deeply. And when they get into their feeling bag, it is because they are in their thinking bag and it does not stop. It is constant.

Aquarians are deep thinkers, when something happens in their lives that they genuinely care about and it genuinely affects them, they will go over it in their heads constantly. They are often very anxious and highly strung people. They may not show this openly, but behind closed doors, internally and to those people who have given them a safe space to express themselves, they are very evidently emotional people. Emotions may be shown through a lot of crying, or in your non stereotypical way and this could be through just ranting and venting about it non stop. If you have been around an Aquarius who is comfortable with you and very emotional or triggered by something, you will see that they will not shut up about it, but the other person who they feel that way towards may never ever see this or hear of it. Which results in people thinking Aquarius does not care, because it is not directly shown to them or if it is, it may not be in the warm mushy cry baby way people hope for or understand.

It may come off way more cold, distant, angry, detached or closed off but for an Aquarius to even show you that, that is A LOT for them.

To circle back to the self blame. Aquarius are viewed as narcissistic people at times, who are selfish and do not really show empathy or remorse to people. This has some truths but it is mostly inaccurate. The truth is they do not show it. But they actually do feel it. Aquarius often blame themselves internally way more than people may ever realise or know.

Aquarius are confident, but they are also very hard on themselves. This is due to Saturns influence here. They feel remorse, they feel self disappointment, they feel regret and they feel a lot of internal self blame. With their analytical minds, they are very unlikely to not have gone over things 1 million times and looked at where they went wrong or where they could have handled things in a different way.

They do not like making mistakes, they do not like drama, they do not like losing people they care about and being humanitarian based, they do not like hurting people either. They can accept being the bad guy through the eyes of others, but they cannot accept being the bad guy through the eyes of themselves. They dislike knowing their reckless actions, and stupid decisions put them in negative consequences. They will actually take responsibility internally. This IS true apology and true remorse. The ability to feel bad, not due to emotional manipulation and succumbing to the thoughts and opinions of others, but through real introspect and internal self accountability and self awareness. You may never hear an Aquarius admit these thoughts however. But these thoughts are persistent within them and they will often try to make those changes moving forward to not be that person again. Their values and morals mean a lot to them, they follow what they believe is right based on what they have decided is right vs wrong, not what the world has told them is. They are naturally very ethical people, an unethical Aquarius often decided to rebel and set their rules to be opposite of whatever system they were forced to follow and felt caged to.

Aquarius will need to learn to not let their self blame turn into self hate or self harm. It is a lesson very similar to what Capricorn will also have to learn (that Saturn influence doing what it does best again.) They may end up punishing themselves for their mistakes by self sabotaging things, going down a path which aligns with their self view, or avoiding positive paths as not feeling deserving or not making amends to their mistakes due to viewing themselves as doing people a favour by steering clear of others or being avoidant. They need to learn to accept their mistakes as just mistakes and moving on from them. The same way they can be really accepting and understanding and forgiving of the mistakes of others, they need to extend themselves that same grace.

Aquarius have likely angered people when they live by the things they want to do. When your energy is very warm, welcoming and electric, people naturally expect your allegiance because of how you make them feel.

Aquarius make everyone feel accepted, the issue is this does not mean that Aquarius is in agreement with your way of life or wants to do things the way you want them. This can confuse people. It can have people placing particular expectations on Aquarius and it can be unfair because Aquarius feel obliged to make people happy but at the same, they do not want to live a life that is not true to themselves and many may go through life doing this. The ones who are a lot more outspoken, defiant and stubborn may actively show their opposing stance. All Aquarius are stubborn, but not all of them will show it. So some may find more discreet, indirect, secretive ways of being defiant but without showing it or hurting people.

They are typically unproblematic and keep themselves within their communities/groups or to themselves. They have a magnetic type of energy which allows people to actually gravitate towards them naturally, often wanting to be their friends or be in their lives to some capacity. This is why they can find themselves with really long term friends even if they are distant and not communicating or seeing them consistently. But when they do speak or see each other, they often pick up right where things were left off.

You will see them focussing on their talents, skills, goals,  hobbies or interests. Aquarius usually have some type of drive, Saturns influence ensures that they have goals and are driven. Success is usually at the forefront of their minds like Capricorn. The Uranus energy here makes them more influential, they are likely to have interests that others don’t have or if others do have, they somehow have talents which make them different, unique and creative in their own special way.

Aquarius don’t have a specified path. When you think of the Venus based signs, you know their path is more dedicated towards the arts or finance etc. But with Aquarius, they are very broad in the types of interests they have from philosophical, metaphysical, technological, travel, culture, charity, humanitarianism and a lot more. You can never really pin them down. What they all have in common however is they cannot just do things because of the sake of it. They really need to feel free, or in charge/control in some way.

They worry when it comes to taking risks. Uranus pushes them to be reckless, where Saturn tells them, “wait, hold on. What are the risks?” So there is a pull and tug coming from different ends. One part of them wants it all, they want to achieve the world and they often have ridiculous amount of self belief and self confidence when it comes to their abilities.

Then the self doubt comes in out of overthinking, and they start to question whether they are able, whether they have the tools, the ability, whether time is on their side or whether they are going to fail and waste their time on the wrong thing.

Their over thinking and negative self talk can sometimes add to procrastination or just never taking that plunge and jump. They need to not worry about failure or stop comparing their progress to that of the people around them or it could really hinder their positive mindset, which will hinder their self progression.

Aquarius also being Air sign based means they may lack the practical abilities that Earth signs are known for. Which means, they may have the creativity, they may have the ideas and goals, they may have the wit and skill to carry things out, but the issue is actually putting things into action.

Where there is a lot of mental and head action, there is often a lack of putting it into physical action. Which can make them seem a little lazy, fixed or too laid back.

Aquarius are hard workers, when they are motivated and are confident in what it is they are doing. They also need to start because once they start, they do not stop.

But one thing Aquarius need is a community, an individual or a group to help them in some way. That will provide Aquarius the extra boost needed to accomplish their goals and it will help Aquarius actually make plans towards their goals. When you live in your head, it is easy to be a dreamer and struggle with the actual slow part of making detailed plans towards HOW you will achieve what you want. Their heads can be a little fuzzy and can easily get overwhelmed. They need to find a way to get out of their heads and stop themselves from getting too stressed as their stress makes them avoidant and can drive them into running from responsibility.

Problems they may face can start in more direct one on one, intimate relationships.

Where intimacy is concerned, Aquarius are once again seen in a light that they struggle with this.

Intimacy comes easy with Aquarius when they are with an intimate partner and have a safe space to be intimate. When they do not however, they may struggle being comfortable enough to be that way with someone, because they live in their head a lot and may make themselves feel uncomfortable with the idea of it.

People may treat Aquarius a lot tougher or rougher due to these assumptions. Aquarius is often seen as very independent, confident and tough, like they can just handle things very well, and do not need help, reassurance, affection or things that just allow them to have that space to relax and be vulnerable. So often Aquarius will learn to just play that part and kind of put that softer energy away until they even start to believe that this is just who they are naturally. They will not try and when they do try, it will feel thought out and awkward and it can even come out as uncomfortable.

They are really loving, verbal, affectionate, soft, touchy and warm individuals and when partners or others are willing to treat them as humans instead of robots or machines, they are likely to see an Aquarius showcase that energy a lot more on their own. An Aquarius will even appreciate them and gravitate more towards people who actually show them this energy and let them slowly come out of their shell and be that person back. They may feel that the people around them need to have a lot of patience to deal with them because of this.

Aquarius shut off again however the moment that safe space has been taken from them or the moment the relationship is over. An Aquarius anger or detachment is very intense. The stereotype that Aquarius are nonchalant and do not care is very true when it is in relation to things they actually genuinely do not care about and they can make themselves not care if the situation has led to that.

It can feel as though you are dealing with a whole new person and they are someone you never knew how quickly or even intensely they can shut their energy off from you. This is usually an extreme case however and often really for their own mental and emotional protection.

Their anger can sometimes be extreme, so some of them will choose the option of emotional detachment than them saying or doing something everyone will regret.

Aquarius love deep thinkers, intelligent people and great conversationalists. They find people who can hold their attention for longer than a few days or hours interesting and they are often gravitating towards people who make them leave their heads or people who make them feel intrigued.

Where an Aquarius loses interest, it is often because they felt a little underwhelmed and their focus went back to whatever it is they originally had their focus on.

Financially, Aquarius may need to work on not overindulging in frivolous purchases. They can be very overindulgent, and may feel like rewarding themselves often. They do enjoy looking good and enjoy presenting themselves as people who have it, or are successful. That or when they have a deep interest in something, they can be OVERLY interested and they will not hold back on spending towards it.

They may need help in the savings department and if they work on that, they could become extremely wealthy because of their drive and historically achieve high levels of success.

Overall Aquarius are mysterious, thought provoking, intellectual people with strong values, a caring nature and they do not discriminate. They are extremely accepting of all types of people however they are very picky in who gets let in and gets close to them. They are fiercely loyal, dedicated and very stubborn and do not easily give up on things or people.

They crave stability, security and a shelter and understanding but can have the curse of forever being misunderstood by the same people they place infinite patience and understanding towards. Love on them, and let them feel like it is safe to love you back and you have someone on your side for life.
